Trump made his bed. It's time he lays in it.

Fraud. Classified Documents. An Insurrection. Hush Money. Election Subversion. Defamation and Sexual Assault.

What do all of these words have in common? One man: Donald J. Trump

If someone had predicted that a former President would face four indictments with 91 charges across multiple states only ten years ago, they would have been laughed at. If you told a Republican this today, they would vote him for President.

Trump often paints the picture that he is an innocent man wrongfully being charged, but that is just not the true story - it’s what he wants people to believe. There are no indications of a wrongful indictment, but there are many pointing to him as a perpetrator. Trump claims that he is a victim throughout all of his court cases and argues multiple issues that are so far off the map, it’s hard to see where they even land.

For starters, Trump argues that the Biden administration has put forth some sort of “political agenda” against him, alleging that his court cases are sprinkled with the current President’s influence. However, no evidence comes close to suggesting even a minor link between Biden and any involvement in Trump's multiple cases. Two of his cases were brought forth by local or state prosecutors, which Biden’s administration has no control over or influence on. The other two are being conducted through a special counsel appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland, not by Biden. The President has no personal interference anywhere in these indictments. The most humorous irony of all is that Trump actually claims Biden is conducting an “election interference” scheme to win the upcoming election, something that Trump himself has actually been charged with doing back in 2020 in the Georgia case.

Additionally, Trump argues that many of the cases are merely political, and that his charges have no actual grounds to stand on. This is just simply not true. One would have to be living under a rock to forget about January 6th, the Mar-a-Lago document frenzy, and the infamous phone call to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. The public has seen many of his actions firsthand - does he think we are blind? Does he just hope we will black out our memories? Probably.

To further show his faulty claims, Trump and his legal teams have tried multiple times to get judges to dismiss his indictments but have largely failed to do so because there are actual sufficient grounds to stand in each case. For example, in the Georgia case, a judge dismissed three of thirteen charges but declined to dismiss the entire indictment. For someone who claims everything is a “witch hunt”, it sure isn’t adding up when the evidence is right in front of his face.

My take is that this is all a part of his plan. His campaign is not nearly bringing in as much money as he hoped, and the majority of the money brought in is going straight to his legal fees. He claims to be “stuck” in courtrooms; however, he did not have to attend many of the previous proceedings before his current court case. So, to answer the question, how will he be campaigning? Well, he’s doing it right now.

By making himself look like a victim of the justice system, villainizing Biden with fake conspiracies, and selling merchandise of his mug shot, he is pulling in his audience with the same tactics as before, except this time he gets to use the courtroom as his stage. The MAGA movement largely does not want to be shown the facts, they chose to believe whatever rhetoric Trump spews out, which, as history shows, is largely inaccurate. Trump has intertwined all of his supporters under a spell in which they confuse deception for reality.

The bottom line is that Donald Trump can whine, lie, and try everything in his power to delay, prevent, or squash his court cases. One thing is for sure: Trump made his bed, and it’s time he lay in it.
